What are some good cosmetics for lightskinned blacks?
I am a lightskinned black woman and I have a hard time finding cosmetics in drugstores that are the right skin tone. Either they are too light or too dark. There seems to be no in between. I can't afford the higher end products all the time(department stores) can anyone help?
Answer:
go to mac. it has the greatest range of shades and you can try it. that is the main problem with drugstore brands. i suggest mac since it is not too expensive, it works very well and has a the greatest range of colours and products.
here are some ways to save money:
use a wet sponge to apply your foundation. you will use less, gives good coverage (if you get a full coverage foundation), and give a very smooth and natural looking skin.
use a loose powder with a big face brush. it lasts forever...much longer than the compact and gives a great natural look.
buy drugstore lipsticks, eyeshadows, liners, etc.
i do suggest buying a good blush though as it has to match you and you should be able to try it on.
drug store lines i like:
l'oreal shadows have good pigment so what you see is generally what you get and it goes on well.
maybelline great lash and l'oreal voluminous.
rimmel is inexpensive and works well.
love the sonis kaschuk (think that is how you spell the last name) products at target. she has great brushes.
keep in mind that if you get stuff that looks great on you, you will not have to spend that much on make you will never use.
even though i am a makeup artist, my personal makeup bag is very small and has the items i use everyday...one lipstick nars dolce vita. one blush nars orgasm, one lancome 4 colour eysehadow palette, one laura mercier liner cake and one l'oreal mascara, armani foundation, chantecaille powder and concealer and bobbi brown shimmer brick. that is 8 products. the only 8 i use everyday and it takes me 5 minutes to do a full face since i do not have to make decisions and i always look consistent and polished. other than the mascara and lipstick, the other products last me at throughout the year.
